TCTHH Business Talk | Social Media & Food | The Lowry Uptown
Happy New Year Everyone!
The next Twin Cities Thursday Happy Hours event is on Thursday, January 19th at The Lowry in Uptown.
This event will be another TCTHH Business Talk, where we will have a great panel of speakers who are involved in the hospitality business to talk about Social Media & Food. Stephanie Shimp, the Owner of Blue Plate Restaurant Company, will be moderating the panel.
This event marks the start of Year 4 of Twin Cities Thursday Happy Hours events. This is a great networking opportunity to kick off the new year and to hear from some of the Twin Cities most influential people in the food and social space.
Jason DeRusha, WCCO’s “Good Question Guy”, Jason Kallsen of The Wine Company and Founder/Owner of Twin Cities Wine Education LLC, along with Omar Ansari, President of Surly Brewing Co. will be our featured panel speakers for the event.

If you want to get to know other Twin Cities professionals, make valuable connections, meet new friends and learn a little something about social media and food, join us on the 19th for this event.
You are encouraged to share this with a colleague, friend or business partner that may be interested in attending. Please RSVP by registering for the event, as we have a limited amount of space and need to let our hosts know how many to expect.
Valet parking can be accessed from Hennepin Avenue.
I look forward to seeing you all there, it will be a fun event! If you have any questions, please let me know.

Where should the 2nd Annual TCTHH Charity Event be held? Nominations Please!
Attention: TCTHH is looking for the next great venue to host its 2nd TCTHH Charity Event benefiting the NICU at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.
Do you have a favorite bar, restaurant, event center, mansion or other cool venue that you want to nominate to be the host of the 2nd Twin Cities Thursday Happy Hours Charity Event?
Please nominate your favorite venues below in the comment section. This blog post will be followed by a poll for all of our members to vote on the place that will hopefully (pending talking to the venue of course) be lucky enough to host the charity event in May.
Last year this particular event was held at Solera, which was did an awesome job of hosting us. The event also raised $7,000 for Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.
If you are interested in being a sponsor for the event, please contact us about sponsorship here.
Thanks!

Top 5 Reasons to Attend a Happy Hour
I got to thinking about what makes people want to go to a happy hour, whether it is a sporadic idea that happens to form on a Friday afternoon, or it is something organized like it is for Twin Cities Thursday Happy Hours.
I often get invited from one of my several groups to go to happy hour events, sometimes with friends, sometimes with co-workers and most often for other networking functions, especially from meetup.com.

There are many reasons for people to want to attend a happy hour, here are my top 5 reasons:
1. Meet new people - I enjoy meeting people, thus being somewhere where there is an opportunity to meet new people in a social setting such as a bar or restuarant is a great reason for me to want to go to a happy hour in Minneapolis/St. Paul.
2. Establish relationships with professionals - Many of the functions that I go to are for the sole purpose of networking, which is great, but I often find there is the business card exchange happening and not much conversation. To truly network with business professionals you need to establish a relationship and a connection, a happy hour setting encourages that.
Welcome to Twin Cities Thursday Happy Hours
Welcome to Twin Cities Thursday Happy Hours, this networking group is intended to bring people together from all over the Twin Cities to meet other young professionals in the area in a casual setting for happy hour on the 3rd Thursday of each month.
Each event will be located at a Twin Cities area bar and restaurant to allow everyone to meet new people, have a drink or two and connect with others in the business world.
